What is it like going to Georgia Tech for business, especially since it is a highly engineering-focused school? Are there less attention or resources for the business school? Are the co-op and internship opportunities more difficult to find? Please share your experience.
GT business school is not overcrowded, ~50 undergrad students per year. So you’ll feel spoiled and know all your classmates. Classes won’t be hard to get and the business school building is new. Coop/internships, Atlanta is 4th for most corporate HQs in the US. GT has a top rated business career services.
@Greymeer It’s only 50 undergrads per year?! That’s so tiny. Is applying to the business school even different from applying to the regular school? I want to go into finance, but not many classes in business. Should this rule out GeorgiaTech as one of my schools?
@tchit87 It’s not just 50. Scheller has around 150-180 freshman enroll in any given year. With transfers into the college and those sticking around for more than 4 years, there are usually about 1,250 undergraduate business majors enrolled. Georgia Tech has a strong finance program and you should have little trouble landing jobs in corporate finance, investment management, F500 development programs, or the Big 4. Investment Banking, Trading, and management consulting are also options from Tech, but more competitive, so you would need to be towards the top of your class and have strong internships to land those jobs.

Also note that GaTech is very strong in international studies and business, in case your interests change. There are many ties between GATech and Europe, as GaTech offers a campus in Loraine France and students often get internships in Germany at auto companies and the international focus for both engineering and business is unique. There are also strong ties between GaTech and China, in medical related fields, not sure about business. I think the smaller majors at GaTech are the best ones ,and overlooked. Also a GaTech business degree will be seen like an MIT business degree, strong in business analytics.
There is also a strong start up community and incubators at GaTech. I think its an excellent choice for a business major.
