I'm an international student who's been accepted into both schools. I plan to major in Computer Science (and have been accepted into the appropriate programs for both). As an international student cost doesn't matter (they are both equally incredibly expensive), I just can't decide where to go.

Ultimately I'm completely undecided where to go - both schools appear to rank equally well for Engineering/Computer Science and having never visited either I have no insight into what Atlanta or Ann Arbor is like.

All I can say is that both are awesome. My friend who attends here w/me likes the intellectual scene at Ann Arbor a lot (she’s from Ann Arbor, the town and here dad is a researcher in nuclear engineering. She also really likes the Gothic Architecture). Both are really good, and since they are public they are going to be very rigorous w/no significant grade inflation in the sciences. It would be really nice if you could visit both to feel out the atmosphere. Both cities are quite liberal w/respect to their regions. With that said, Ann Arbor is far more liberal than Atlanta.

Both schools are great for your major. Like bernie12 said, make sure you visit them and decide which atmosphere you like better.

Michigan
-college town atmosphere
-Huge school
-crazy about football
-COLD weather

Georgia Tech
-Located in the city
-Medium size school
-warmer climate
-unbalanced male:female ratio

Oh, yeah forgot about the really cold weather there. Sucks, but my friend actually misses it.
