I plan to major in Computer Science /Computer Engineering. I got accepted by both Georgia Tech and Stony Brook (SUNY). I am preferring Stony brook because it is close to our home in NYC and also I can pay in state tuition. I am not expecting any financial aid from Georgia Tech. Am I making a mistake in choosing stony brook vs Georgia Tech? Will pay /employment opportunities be significantly different for Stony Brook vs Georgia Tech. Please advise.

My son applied to both of these colleges for computer science as well. However he got wait listed at GIT and got accepted at Stony Brook (SUNY) and UMass Amherst. GIT is definitely a better college and highly recognized. According to my son, its very demanding academically. So my thought is, if you can afford it and can handle a demanding work schedule, then go for GIT.
My son is undecided between Stony Brook (SUNY) and Umass Amherst. Any thought for him?

Stony Brook is a respectable school for CS, despite their lowly reputations overall in their region where students and parents are dazzled by the plethora of prestigious private schools in the area. Paying full OOS cost at GT does not seem like a good value compared to Stony Brook as a NY resident.

UMass - Amherst is also respectable for CS. If the price difference between it and Stony Brook is large, the value equation favors the less expensive one.

Thank you all for your responses. I do not know much about Umass Amherst to comment.Considering the cost factor and getting accepted to Honors computer science program at Stony brook, I have decided to pick Stony Brook. Stony brook also offered a few merit scholarships.
