Georgia Tech

Hello everyone,
I am a senior in high school looking to apply to Georgia Tech this year. I am hoping to get some realistic feedback on my chances, also some advice on how I can improve my chances when applying. Here’s my summary :
GPA : 2.7 (unweighted)
SAT: 1510 (New SAT)
ACT: 34
AP courses: 10 , (US history, Calculus, Psychology, Government, Statistics, Macro and Micro economics, Biology, Lit, Environmental)
AP Exams : I have only taken 4 so far : APES 4 , US history 4, Government 4, and Bio 3
Intended Major: Computer Science
Nationality: First generation Ethiopian (Oromo) and first college
Clubs: I only hold one leadership position in a club (Oromo youth association) and kinda participate in a few others

I realize my GPA is lacking but I have never taken any core classes that weren’t Accelerated, gifted, or honors.

Also, I live in Georgia.
Thanks !

I also go to a really competitive math and science school

What’s your WGPA and does it show on your transcript?

From your stats, it seems like you’re naturally smart, but did not give a crap about school. I think you have a decent shot because you’re first generation.

Being 1st gen with not help enough to get you into GA Tech with a 2.7. GA Tech takes whatever GPA that’s on your transcript. They don’t recalculate it. What is your WGPA?

I have no idea, my school only gives us the unweighted one.

unless you have a great reason for low GPA i dont see you getting accepted

I’m afraid that a 2.7 will hurt your chances. Unless you have had a major trend upwards in your GPA then I would doubt your success at being admitted to GT.
