I’m very interested in the policymaking process but reluctant to pursue political science as a major due to its relative uselessness. That’s when I found the Gerald R Ford school. From what I can see, the program was pretty much made for me. Would it be worth getting a public policy BA from the school? Would it serve me any better than a normal political science degree? After college, I plan on either getting a masters (in public policy) or a JD. But I don’t want to pick a useless bachelor program just in case for whatever reason I don’t pursue postgraduate education.

This is what some are going into. Talk to an advisor.
Political Science is not a “useless bachelor program”. The three poli-sci recent grads from U-M that I know off the top of my head went on to a top PhD program, top strategy consulting firm, and a prestigious political staffer opportunity.
