What makes the Warren College Writing Classes so bad? Someone on the Facebook Page repeatedly wrote “WCWP is cancer”. And another person said the professors grade your essays like “it’s a master thesis or something”. I know all the colleges have annoying writing requirements but I would like to know more about them.
Many students at UCSD (in my experience) don’t really like writing. There are many science majors that aren’t huge fans, as well as students in other disciplines, I’m sure. Also, the jump to college writing may be a big leap for many students, who aren’t accustomed to what higher level writing requires. They may also be required to do a research paper which requires more work. It’s not so much the class. It just depends on the student. Some think it’s fine. Others hate it.

It’s not too bad for my kid. I think the second writing class is a bit easier. But UCSD makes it hard and I’m glad, especially for the STEM students. They don’t think they are going to need it but they will.
