Hello all,
This will be my first post here. I am a student at the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) studying Audio Production. I am well aware of my school's bad reputation for being a lousy for-profit school that will accept just about anyone who is willing to pay. Unfortunately, I did not do much research when I enrolled.

Be that as it may, I am quickly approaching graduation. I will have a Bachelor's in about 6 months. I am very interested in teaching Audio, Music, etc. Which would require a Master's.

GA Tech seems like a pretty good choice (but I am completely open to suggestions) They offer a MS in Music Technology.

I already know that CREDITS wont transfer anywhere. But does that mean my DEGREE will not be enough to get me in?

Some schools require ACCREDITED degrees, though I don't see anything that says I wouldn't be eligible. It seems like they consider applicants on a case by case basis. (as far as I can tell?)

It would probably be worth mentioning that I have a decent GPA (3.51) and am Operator Certifed in Pro Tools. (a certification that most students never achieve at my school)

Also, I did not finish 9th grade and have no SAT scores for them. (only a GED and Bachelor's from IADT)

This has been tricky to research, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

For graduate admission, Georgia Tech requires “evidence of award of a bachelors degree or its equivalent (prior to matriculation) from a recognized institution and graduation in the upper half of their class (Masters) or upper quarter of their class (Doctoral); students must show evidence of preparation in their chosen field sufficient to ensure profitable graduate study.”

Since it sounds like your degree would not qualify as being from a recognized institution, they would have to make an exception for you. GT states that “applicants who do not satisfy basic admission criteria may, for sufficient reason, be admitted with the approval of the Graduate Committee as established in the statutes and bylaws of the Institute.”

[Georgia Institute of Technology :: Graduate Admissions : Statement on Competitive Admission](http://www.gradadmiss.gatech.edu/admission_standards.php)

The MS in Music Technology program states that “applicants should have an undergraduate degree in music, computing, engineering, or a related discipline, and they should demonstrate their musical background in performance, composition and/or theory, as well as basic skills in programming and/or engineering in order to be admitted to the program. Candidates may be asked to interview with faculty in person or by telephone; the interview, which will include a portfolio examination, will be used to further assess their qualifications.”

If you can convince admissions that your degree has met the above requirement, you may be admitted. The program does conduct interviews, so you should have an opportunity to make your case. I would contact GT admissions, and reach out to a staff or faculty member with the program: [Faculty/Staff | School of Music | Georgia Tech](http://www.music.gatech.edu/people/faculty_staff) They will likely be able to give you a better answer than anyone on this forum.

Thank you for your detailed response. I guess the best way to find out would be to ask them directly.
