Get into Wellesley College with a 3.5 GPA and a 28 ACT?

Those are my girlfriend's stats, and we're both looking to go to Wellesley in fall of 2013. I have a 36 on my ACT and a 3.95 GPA, so I'm pretty confident in my abilities, but we're worried about her chances. We both have excellent extracurriculars, and she's worked a part-time job for most of high school. I'm working part time this summer.

What do you guys think her chances are? Be realistic. Thanks so much!

I’m also applying for Wellesley College class of 2017! From what I gather, her GPA is a bit low for Wellesley, along with the ACT score, since it converts to 1920. However, if her ECs are as amazing as you say they are, she still has a good chance since Wellesley looks at applicants holistically. I’m unsure if the stats posted on CC are skewed to the applicants with higher stats, but through my hours spent stalking the stats threads, generally girls with GPAs 3.75+ and SAT 2000+ get accepted. In the end, nobody can say for sure, since there are a lot of exceptions to what I’ve seen.

Why don’t you check out the decision threads, collegedata and cappex to get a better idea of her chances? While none of them can definitely say that your girlfriend will not get in, they’re great resources to use to get a general idea of what you’ll probably be up against. Wellesley is definitely holistic so keep an open mind!
