For all those that got accepted congrats and good luck to all those who still have more decisions to make. Wellesley is my top choice and i'm putting all my efforts to make it in next year on ED.

Overall i'm worried about my GPA and Rank esp Rank.
Will sending just ACT put me at a disadvantage?

if u are a junior... y not study for the sat during summer and take it again september/october? that makes it in early enough

A 3.87 puts you outside the top fifth of your class? Is that weighted or unweighted? My 3.6 put me in the top 7-8%.

I got in with a lower GPA, but higher scores (higher than your SAT, not your ACT which is very good) and rank so I'd say you've certainly got a decent shot.

i have a 3.96 uw, ranked top 2% but a 1330 SAT and i really didnt expect getting in!

My school is the size of wellesley, it is very competitive and even with my 3.87 weighted i'm outside the top 20th percentile. ARg.

Swtswtdreams, would sending in SAT instead of ACT improve anything? Because increasing my score on SAT looks tedious, I'm already well over wellesley's ACT mean.

I wonder if they'll look down on me because of my rank.

(different id but still swtswtdreams to answer)

haha i know what you mean increasing the sat score IS a hassel. i studied for all summer and my score improved drastically to a 1500 on practise tests, but i couldn't take the SAT until december, and by then i was sooo overwhelemed with my 6aps school work that i completely forgot all the stuff that i memorized. ha believe it or not i memorized a 3000 word dictionary over the summer for the verbal but in the end it all left my mind. i took the sat FIVE times, 3X junior year 2X senior year rite up until january the latest you can possibly take it, hoping a miracle would happen, until i finally gave up. score range 740-710m and 610-570v. my act scores were pretty good 36M 32E 29R 34S but i sent them all my scores anyways. i guess the verbal is just not my thing...

i think your sat score is somewhere around the mean for wellesley so they wouldnt look down on you for sending it, but since you are a junior there is always senior year to boost your gpa. i had a 3.99 w and ended up with a 4.03 w after 7th semester, which boosted me from top 8% to top 2% since lots of "let-it-slide" people without APs have 4.0 our school doesn't weigh that much, with a 4.4 for A in AP classes.

i guess when it comes down to admission reviewers decisions, its about luck too. i applied EE and got a "possibly" and they were even frank to say that i should be prepared for not getting in but in the end i was really surprised.

thanks for the insight!

another reeeeeally important thing to do is apply early... as early as you are prepared to. it really helps your chances. my parents didn't know and they didn't care all they ever said was "so you are applying to colleges, rite?" and i would say, yes, eventually... but then dec/jan rolled around the corner and all their friends are talking about their kids going to HYPSM EA or ED (I'm chinese ha surprise?) and they were like... you didn't apply YET? and I told them I'm applying RD and they were kind of mad, but they never even knew about EA/ED. in the end I didnt get into any of the HYPSM even though I thought I'd try my luck at it anyways, since they say college app is a crapshot. but it is something I really overlooked: APPLYING EARLY SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING IN... IT CAN ONLY HELP YOU, NOT HURT YOU

if u dont get in, u just get thrown in with the regular people, which is the same as applying RD, so you get 2 shots, and more than double hte chances, like buying 3 lottery tickets while i only bought 1. and some of the people that don't get in eventually get accepted RD anyhow. but anyways, GOOD LUCK!
