Hi guys! So the decision is coming up pretty soon and I’m so anxious.
Anyways, my gpa is 3.76 and im applying to global studies (of which avg gpa is 3.85). So l had never gotten any C in my life before but last fall right before my last final exam i had a severe toothache (i know it sounds stupid) that really hindered me from performing my best on my final exam (i failed my final exam) and thus i got a C overall for this class. My gpa went down from 3.81 to 3.76. Would this C significantly affect my acceptance chance? im TAP certified btw. Thanks!
It depends if this class is a major pre-req or not and it’s at the discretion of your admission counselor. It’s probably a toss up whether it will affect you or not at this point. Don’t worry too much, decisions are out soon!
@jms8116 I really doubt it based on last year. No one got rescinded with a C. Do you have a dentist’s receipt? That way, if they ask, which they might, just to ask, you will have proof. But either way, assuming you get in, I think you’ll be fine.
@lindyk8 It sounds like he/she got the C last fall, so I guess the question isn’t about getting rescinded but simply rather whether the C will affect their admission decision?
To be honest it’s kind of a silly question (no offense at all OP, I asked tons of silly questions around admission time last year) because there’s no way of knowing the answer, although the difference between a 3.81 and a 3.76 isn’t that much. Besides, TAP gives you a big edge, so I would try not to worry about it.
@lindyk8 @music1990 do you guys think TAP would help? how effective is it? I completed 7 (although only asked 6) pre reqs and my major gap is 3.86. I also explained why about the incident in my application. Would they consider it?
As @music1990 said, we really can’t say because who knows what they’ll do but it seems like you have a good shot, esp being TAP. I don’t think the C is that big of a deal.
