In need of advice

Hello all.

I'm current at a CC in Orange County. I'm maintaining 3 A's and a C (sigh) this semester. I'm planning on transferring to a UC (Berkeley, LA, Irvine) about a year from now. I'm obviously happy with 3/4 of my grades, but that C is what I'm not so thrilled about.

It's a 4 unit class (Statistics) in which the teacher doesn't curve and the class average is a C- with only one A.

My school gives students options to withdraw from a class by November 16, and the withdrawal doesn't affect one's GPA whatsoever.

But the cons that come out of withdrawing are:
- a "W" on your transcript
- the loss of those 4 units and having to take the class over again. (waste of two months).

If I end up staying in the class, I'll finish the semester with a 3.3 GPA. If I withdraw, I end up with a 3.7.

What should I do?

Thank you.

withdraw. take the class next quarter, and make sure you get an A whatever it takes.

we're on semesters. thanks for your input :)

anyone else?

If your positive your going to get a C...I would def withdraw and take it the next semester. Getting a C is hard to come back from.

Withdraw and consider a CLEP test to replace the course prehaps.

hi medwheel, I was just in the exact same situation. I'm a freshman with an A in Chem, Calc, FYS, and I had a C- in Bio. I talked to my advisor and Bio teacher and they both said that if I didn't feel I could bring it up and I want a very good GPA then I should drop the course. I withdrew from it today. Not only will I not have C- on my transfer application but I will have a better chance at maintaining an A in my other classes. But yeah, 12 credits does look worse than 16 but I still feel a 4.0 with 3 classes is better than a 3.39 with 4.

Oh yeah, and I'm switching to political science major so it is not relavant to my major
