Getting a job with a BS in your major?

I have heard that it is very rare for someone to land a job after graduation that has to do with what you studied in college, is this true for Gatech as well?

I chose ChemE, which I've heard has moderate-mediocre job prospects, compared to biomedical which has great. Does the major matter, or is it all networking and meeting the right people to get the job you want?

Cannot be further from the truth. If you want to make sure that you get a get job after graduation I strongly recommend to CO-OP. Georgia Tech has one of the nation’s largest co-op program.

Also when your school conduct major specific career fairs that tells you that their grads are strongly sought after.
