I applied for “Undecided College of Engineering” as my intended major at Georgia Tech. Should I be worried as I feel that many students will apply to this major?
No worries, its a great choice to explore various engineering fields, but beware that if you change majors after two years of study, it will take another full year to graduate, because GaTech has sequenced requirements. You have to take the sequence starting in fall, so if you somehow miss the fall class, you wait a year to get into the sequence. This can set you back a semester or more. I know a student who started in biomedical engineering, and had a year of IB/AP credits and he switched to chemical engineering and had to take the thermodynamics sequence so he took an extra summer and semester to get a bachelors degree. He is now in the field he loves and going for a PhD in chemical engineering.
