Hey, so i'm an incoming freshman and I was recently assigned to my room mate and college in my quad. I got a chance to chat with the guy, and to be honest...I really don't find my self comfortable with this person at all. We seem to have completely different interests, and attitudes. Ontop of that, i'm not into pot either, is it too late to request for a different room mate? I really don't feel any positive relation between us at all.

Hi Futurenapper,

"During the first two weeks of the semester, there is a room freeze that allows time for the residential staff to confirm where all residents live and to identify vacancies, if any exist. After the room freeze ends, a student not assigned to temporary housing (i.e. temporary triple) who wishes to make a room change must contact their quad office to make arrangements to switch rooms.

Freshmen interested in changing rooms are limited to spaces within their assigned Undergraduate Colleges. Nearly every room change during the fall semester will be a one-to-one exchange with another resident, due to the fact that the fall semester typically starts with residents in provisional triples.

Room swaps must be to like-type rooms (residential double to residential double, residential single to residential single, West single to West single, West double to West double). Changes from double to singles or residence halls to West will only be granted once you are reached off the waitlist. You may add your name to the waitlist at [Campus Residences - Housing Applications](<a href=“Campus Residences | Stony Brook University”>Campus Residences | Stony Brook University) under “housing applications.”"

For more information, feel free to visit the Campus Residences website: [Campus Residences - Home Page](<a href=“Campus Residences | Stony Brook University”>http://studentaffairs.stonybrook.edu/res/index.aspx)

Cant people placed in temporary triples request a room change?
If not, how soon can they?

acroyal,

The room freeze affects all students living in Stony Brook residence halls, so no switch requests can be made before the end of the freeze.
