Getting a summer job? Starting freshman year of college in fall 2011?

I would really like to get a job as a day camp counselor. Would I be considered a college student? Many of these camps have special junior counselor programs for people entering 12th grade, which I am not and want counselors in college.

Is you day camper and sleep away camper when I was younger, but for the past few summers I have been doing more academically-related things? Are camps reluctant to hire people who don't have much experience (wow that sounds like a stupid question...)?

Would becoming CPR certified help? I think it's a bit too late to become a lifeguard before this summer, but I would be applying only as a general counselor. I do have a little bit of experience with kids; I was a teacher's assistant once a week for two years. I don't think that's very much compared to being a camp counselor though.

yeah ive been wondering the same thing, what are we called before we go into freshman year? im trying to find internships but i dont know what to look up, college or hs?

And about the CPR thing, i looked into it, and i also looked into becoming a Certified First Responder (which is like the first steps of becoming an EMT and you can do it once your 16) or becoming an EMT (you have to be 18). One thing you should consider is how early college starts because as freshman we have orientation and alot of these types of training programs are long.

I think this summer its imp to make money for college but also just to relax and have fun since you know you have a long yr ahead of you!!
