Summer stuff

Just Curious. . .I have been attending a YMCA summer camp for 7 years and was a Leader-in-Training last year and a Counselor-in-training this year. This is a camp that is just about FUN! I have made many friends and learned new things and gained leadership experience.

My question: should I become a Junior Counselor next year and get paid (Work experience!) to have a ton of fun at a place I love? OR

should I focus on a college summer program at like Cornell or Brown or some other school and get credit? I'm sure I would enjoy it a great deal, since I love to learn, but I don't know if colleges would rather see the preppy summer learning program or the work experience/leadership/dedication to my camp.

I know this sounds insane, but any suggestions would be lovely.

Do the camp! You outlined the benefits: you will have fun, get money, and demonstrate dedication. The summer programs at colleges are great, but you hit the nail on the head: they can be "preppy" in that they are expensive resume-boosters.

You are so right.

While other people are studying for tests in JULY, I'm going to be doing slip 'n slides, making candles and horseback riding- and getting paid to do so!

But, if anyone knows any short program/workshop/etc. for the end of August, please let me know.

This is one of those posts where I kind of realize the answer to my question while typing my first post.
