I’m planning on applying to University of Notre Dame, what do you guys think my chances of getting accepted are? Here are my credentials;
4.1 GPA
2230 SAT
AICE Diploma Recipient (14 Aice Credits total)
I’ve never taken a non Aice/Honors class.
2 years of Baseball. (Varsity letter awarded)
2 years of Model UN
1 year National Honor Society
4 years foreign language
Rigorous schedule; I’ve taken hardest schedule’s possible at my school for my junior and senior year.
200+ Hours Volunteer work.
Are baseball, model UN, and NHS your only EC’s?
GPA seems pretty average, maybe a tad low (my school might do GPA in an odd manner, but at my school, we consider a good weighted GPA 4.4+). SAT is definitely solid, and you have tons of service (obviously). Only thing that could be a downfall is if you only have 3 EC’s, especially if you don’t hold any leadership positions in them.
How many EC’s do you think the average applicant has?
You’ve got a good record. No guarantees at a school as competitive as ND. GPAs are an apples to oranges thing. Depends entirely on the school.
@snakerms Depends in my opinion. Some applicants have tons of EC’s, but show little passion in any of them. Some have only a few EC’s, but show a genuine interest in them. I place myself in a combo of that. I have a pretty good amount of EC’s (you can check my thread titled “Low SAT Score – Chances?” if you’re interested), but I also am very passionate about my religion, so I place emphasis on what I do in those activities.
I’m not familiar with Model UN, but if you hold some sort of leadership position there, or are able to explain how you care about an EC (they will know the difference between faking that you care and actually caring), then you should be alright.
Did that help?
