Getting Around at USC

So if you don't bring a car with you to USC how stranded are you? For example, if I wanted to go to the Train Station (Union Station) or LAX how hard would it be to get there without a car? Is there some sort of public transportation service, or would you have to rely on begging friends with cars for rides or calling a taxi?

Flexcar is one option

Zipcar is another option

USC transportation

USC Auxiliary Services | Transportation

There are buses and dashes (city bus) connecting USC to Union Station. During normal hours, USC has tram service going to Union station every half hour and about every 10-15 minutes during rush hour. A lot of students, staff and faculty do their daily commuting this way.

From Union Station to LAX, you have the FlyAway bus every half hour, 24 hour a day for only about $5. You can check you bags at Union Station.

There will be a 24-hour light rail connecting USC to Union Station in less than 2 years. You may be able to take advantage of that if you don't graduate too fast:)

The problem with public transportation in LA is that the metro lines are few and spread out, perfect if you are starting and stopping near a station, but woefully limited otherwise. Getting anywhere on a bus takes forever.

The Union Station and LAX connections are good, as explained above. A SuperShuttle or taxi is even better, though, for just a little more expense.

In the near-campus area, the university shuttles are fine but there is really nowhere to go except your apartment, campus, and Ralph's.

The new metro station on campus referred to above will probably really change this up and be very popular.

Supershuttle/primetime shuttle to the airport. USC shuttle to Union station. a bike to get around campus. that should help you
