getting around campus

are u allow to ride a bike around campus? like from your dorm to the classes?
for those who have visited.. have u seen anyone biking around?

and how do we get to the city? like to do some shopping and stuff, does the trolley takes us out very easily, or do we need a car or some sort of transportation?

i visited and almost every one walks around campus. a stair case here and there doesnt encourage bikes. they have buses going around city, but not quite sure where they all take you.

I believe there are no skateboards and bicycles on campus, meaning itd be hard to bike dorms to class or even around the campus cause its pretty big and hilly.

There is a new trolley station and it suposedly takes 10 mins to get downtown which is pretty nifty. I think it also goes to the beach and is reasonabley priced.

When i was there everyone was walking around...i'm not sure if i should bring a car or not? It'd be nice to have but also seem like a burden when I wouldn't know my way around any way.

yeah. im wondering whether or not is hould bring my car either, i wonder how many freshman typically do or whether or not id miss it. thing is, i might need it to go back and forth from school and home sometimes since its only a 2 hour drive. i think itd be around 200 a semester w/ the overnight pass everything to keep a car?

10 mins to downtown?
really?? thats awesome then!

shopping can be done easily, as well as movies n all those other city stuff :D

As for the skateboard part. Tons of people use longboards to get around. Bikes are not too common. Bring a car if you want to do activites outside of campus. There is a lot to do in the city and having a car can help you take advantage of it. I used the trolly on several ocastions. Takes you to mexico, football games, and the mall for shopping. Hope this helps.

First off, the trolley isn't 10 minutes to downtown. It's more like 30 but it's still the easiest way and cheapest. You'd have to switch to the Red or Blue Line but they drop you off right in the middle of everything. They don't go to the beach though. You can take the Trolley to the Coaster and all of the stops in North County (Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside) all drop you off at the beach. At the Oceanside stop you're literally a 2 minute walk from the water. It's awesome. Takes a while to get up to North County though on it. But it's worth it.

riding a bike would make you look foolish at SDSU. Not like it's UCD.
Walking will make your legs look better :)

um the campus has a no wheels policy. so yea you'd look foolish
