The Official "Method Of Transportation" Thread

For the upcoming year, I will __________ to my classes, etc.

Me personally, I'm thinking bike.

You'll get tired of using your bike to get to class. It just becomes a hassle to get around people, locking your bike, etc. I'd suggest just walk, and ride the bike on your free time.

Walking... I have made it a point to have all my classes near my dorm this quarter, so it should be easy...

You can't choose the location of your classes though....so how do you cherry pick which classes/rooms/location?

@roflkeke, does the school empty out on the weekends and stuff for recreational biking around campus?

Walking? I don't wanna lose weight.

I don't bike on campus, so I couldn't tell you. There is fewer people on the paths and stuff, so I guess if you wanted to bike it would be easier.

San Diego has a lot of good areas to ride a bike, though. Plus San Diego is one the best places to ride around in, there is so much to see. Also, I love in San Diego County, and can ride home.

Do most people carry backpacks like in high school?

"Do most people carry backpacks like in high school?"

are you trying to be retarded?

No I'm just wondering...

iran.4: why don't you wait until you get there, explore the campus during welcome week and decide from there instead of asking everyone on every single issue? if you're trying to be "perfect" (as in, neurotic) over tiny, tiny issues like this just to "fit in", no one will want to be your friend and you will have a miserable time in college.

Haha, I'm quite the opposite in person

Oh, so you're like this just to annoy us, huh???

And I just look for sections that are close to each other so I don't have to run to them. Most of my classes are offered in multiple sections anyway...

No, I'm like this because I would never have the nerve in public to ask this many questions. But seriously, most people just walk? Walking is so....tiresome.

well then don't do it, duh.

Holy crap! It's walking. It's easy.

Yeah but....It gets tiring after a while. Plus you have a backpack. UCSD isn't a high school campus...it's huge!

I live in sd and have had relatives both attend and work at ucsd, i am fully aware how big the campus is, unless you are walking from the main campus to scripps the walks are not that big of a deal. I will admit though that walking back and forth between scripps and the main campus sucks or walking clear across campus is annoying, but i bet you will not have to do that. I'm sure you'll get used to it so don't worry about it anymore.

Yeah, I visited the campus, and I think the hilly terrain would be detrimental to biking. Also, those sidewalks look like they can be pretty packed during peak hours.

Um...
Shuttle:
*If my class is far away and I have the time to ride it. I can check exactly where the closest shuttle is here: http://track.syncromatics.com/map.scrx?key=UCSD-Campus-Loop#
*If I'm already late and there's no point in running.
*If I'm going to OVT for late night food.

Walking:
*If my class is fairly close, and waiting for the shuttle is risky.

Bike:
*If I'm feeling up for it, those hills are really intimidating. I'll probably walk into class sweaty, red, and breathless.

^_^
