Getting emails from everyone in class?

So, I decided to take a First Year Seminar to get 15 units. I was suggested the class in an email (as the one I chose is directed for transfer students of African American/African ancestry), which also listed an email address to contact with any questions. I had a question about the class, so I sent my question to that address.

I have not received any reply for my question, but since then, my inbox has been bombarded with email from people I believe to be in my class. I’m getting random things about rooms for rent, campus jobs, supporting political canidates, etc.

Why did this happen and how do I get it to stop? The messages arrive from different email addresses so it’s not like I can just spam one and they’re gone…plus I’m not totally sure if I want to considering I may need to contact my fellow classmates in the future.

Thanks for your help.

I have an Earthquakes seminar I took for random credits too, but I don’t think these emails are connected to it. I’ve gotten tons as well. These people aren’t from my class since I’m a freshman and they’re getting rid of stuff from their Davis apartment.

I kind of wish they would stop too, or at least get sent to a different email so the “important” school emails couldn’t be lost in “getting rid of table and chair set!”
