Would the University of Chicago consider my application if I did not take physics in high school. I was unable to fit it into my schedule. I have all of their other requirements met, except for taking a physics class. I have taken a concepts science class, honors biology, honors chemistry, astronomy, and genetics (advanced biology).I plan to major in a social science, most likely anthropology or political science. Would it matter since I have no intent on going into the sciences or would they turn me down since I did not take one of the core science classes.
You have taken enough science to fill the requirement especially since you want to study the social sciences. IOW not taking physics would not have any affect on your application. JMHO.
I’ve gotten in (EDI) without taking physics if that helps. Heck, I didn’t even know that taking physics WAS a requirement.
It’s not.just 4 units of science
UChicago requires “3–4 years of laboratory sciences.” Usually this refers to physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science, though I would talk to your guidance about what counts as a lab science at your specific high school.
