I got kicked out of my 4 year college for having a GPA lower than a 2.0 because of a huge number of mental health issues. So, I was wondering how difficult it will be to get into a Community College, especially one with an open admission policy. Is it possible for me to get into some place like Bronx CC or Broome CC? Please help.
If it was just a GPA issue, you should have no problem enrolling at a Community College. Quite a few students at CC are students who have done poorly at a four-year school and need to start over. If you were “kicked out” for a mental health/disciplinary issue, that could have some impact.
Thank you so much for replying.
I was dismissed for doing so poorly in my academics the reason for which was my mental health issue. I have never had any disciplinary problems with any institute whatsoever. I am just very worried because I have heard a lot of people say that they did not get into a CUNY school because of a low transfer GPA.
Don’t worry about your education now. Make sure your mental health is where it needs to be. In many ways, CC can be more challenging than sleep away college. Teachers don’t do a lot of hand holding at CC and you have the issue of transportation and arriving on time. Unmotivated and distracted students have trouble with all of it. Good luck.
@OspreyCV22 thank you for replying. After getting dismissed from my previous university, I took a year off to focus on my health. I’m ready to start my education again now and that is why I’m looking at community colleges.
