Getting into a selective school with three years of a language?

Two of my dream schools are Northwestern and University of Miami. I am involved in activities both in and out of school and as a Junior I am currently taking taking four AP classes and two honors classes. I have struggled in the honors level of the language (French) that I’m taking and sadly got an A- in it. I have no desire to take the AP level of this language neWill not taking a fourth year of a language ruin my chances of getting into a selective school? Does the fact that I am billingual and speak polish fluently influence college admissions and would it help the fact that I won’t be taking four years of a language? I plan on taking four AP classes my senior year, but to reach graduation requirements I would have to take 2 other regular level classes. Thank you very much for any help!

Is there a non AP version of 4th year French that you could take?

Neither of which requires or recommends 4 years of a foreign language.

The “Woe is me” attitude over an A- will gain you no sympathy; an A-, or even a B-, will not be the difference between acceptance and rejection.

You’re covered with French regardless, but I just want to point out that many students speak their heritage language fluently, but are unable to read or write it. So unless part of your education was in Poland, while you may speak it proficiently, you may not be overall proficient.

3 years is more than adequate for many selective schools, at least it was that way back in my days.
