I will be going to UCLA next fall as an electric engineering major. I like art, and Im not that bad at it. Is it practical to get into an art program at UCLA as an electric engineering, or even possibly get a minor/second major?

I have no idea how the system works, so y'all have to explain how the art system even works.

So basically

-How do I get into art as electric engineernig major
-Is it worth it/should I do it
-Could I get a minor/major (what exactly is a minor?)
-Is it difficult?

You need to talk to some students at UCLA about this. What I’ve heard from parents of UCLA students is that art is impacted, which means that it’s difficult to get art classes into your schedule, even if you’re an art major. Now, there are lots of different classes that qualify as “art” so you’d have to be more specific about what you’re looking for. And if you can’t ge into art classes at UCLA, you’re in LA, after all, which makes it easier to find art classes outside of the university. And maybe summer classes for credit? Good luck!

Sorry, visual arts. Specifically drawing and painting.

Is there a way I can talk to the school about this? Maybe Im just too lazy to dig, but I have no idea how to contact someone at UCLA about this.

Contact admissions at UCLA. They should be able to get you the info you need.

I went to a school where art was “impacted”. You needed to be an art major or minor to have priority enrollment for the classes. You can ask UCLA about double majoring art/engineering; and about getting an art minor.
