How can I get into chem 2A as an incoming freshman. As far as I know, it is an honors counterpart to the chem 1A course. Is it by invitation only via UCSB's honors program? Could really use some info here. Thanks.

Does anyone know?

“Priority should be given to students in the College Honors Program. Students not in the Honors Program may be admitted at the discretion of the instructor.”

Basically you would have to talk to the teacher but they like to limit honors courses to 20 students or less so there may not be room especially for things like chem.

I wasnt an honors student and I just walked in and the prof let me in fine. You just walk into class the first day and the teacher will pass out add codes to everyone, from the times I went everyone who wanted to get into the class got in. So dont worry about it, but however sign up for chem 1 series and lab just in case you dont get in.

Really? So the professor won’t shoo me out or say that this class is reserved for honors students? I’ve seen some of the material and I would be very happy to start on that to get a head start on chem.
