Questions about Chem 1A

So I'm currently undeclared but I want to go Pre-Bio. I was unable to sign up for Chem 1A for the fall quarter, because they reserve it for certain majors, but obviously I need it. Is Chem 1A offered second quarter, and then 1B third quarter, and then 3A the next fall quarter? Or will I have to wait until the next year to start taking the Chem series? Any help would be awesome!

They definitely offer chem 1a winter quarter, you can check the trend of certain classes by looking at enrollment history on GOLD. You should try to get on the waiting list for this quarter though, you might be able to crash the class.

I’m pretty sure you can still change your major but I’m not completely sure. You should call and ask!

1ABC is offered Winter / Spring / Fall respectively even with the labs
1BC is also offered in the summer even with the labs.

You can also take Chem 2A honors in Fall if 1A is full.

I suggest you try to crash Chem 1A. I came in as undeclared and decided I wanted to do a science major, so started Chem 1A in the winter. Then Chem 1B in the spring, and I JUST finished Chem 1C in the summer. If you really can’t get into Chem 1A this quarter, then you pretty much have to do Chem 1C in the summer. Why? If you’re pre-bio you do have to take the O-chem series, which is a 3 quarter series that starts in the fall of your sophomore year. If you can and have the time, try to get into Chem 1A. It’s hard but some people have been able to do it.

I thought chem 2A was not available this fall. I cannot see it anywhere on GOLD. Does anyone know where to find the chem 2 series?
