Getting Into Honors If You Were Not Initially Invited

<p>Is it possible to still get into the Honors program as a freshman if you were not initially invited in your acceptance letter? I'm just figuring that there are bound to be kids who got into the Honors program but then decided against attending UMD, thus freeing up space within the program. I also got into the LEP for journalism so I was kind of surprised that I wasn't invited to the Honors program....</p>

<p>No, I heard some people attempting after the first year, but by that point it’s all but meaningless. </p>

<p>Don’t fret too much over not being in honors, it only really determines your dorm location (you can still get pulled in a honors dorm by a friend however). Your department honors later on will matter a lot more.</p>
