I am very worried right now. I am starting high school and have an overall 3.5 GPA. I really want to go to college and I don’t want to go to any community college. I am currently student council representative, play on the tennis team, and play piano. I am also an Ohio resident. I was wondering if I’ll be able to get into OSU with a 3.5 GPA?
Average GPA for admitted freshmen to the Columbus campus looks to be 3.8. So while admittance is possible, I wouldn’t count on it unless your SAT/ACT score(s) are pretty high.
You might have to start at one of the branches before taking classes in Columbus, but you can get into tOSU. So don’t worry, just concentrate on doing your best in high school.
@simba9 what about a high GPA but low ACT? I have 3.8 GPA but a 24 ACT. I got deferred but I’ll send them my midyear transcript which shows that I now have a 3.95 Weighted GPA
I got in with a 2.96 uw and 3.67 w (though I had a 35 act). Got into Computer Science and Engineering
I don’t work for tOSU admissions office, so I’m just speculating here. I’m seeing that the middle 50% range for Ohio State freshmen on the Columbus campus was 27-30, so I’d think that doesn’t bode well, but people have gotten in with your scores.

@simba9 Someone from my school got in with basically the same stats as me and last year my friend got in with the same stats as well. Hopefully my midyear transcript can show my abilities.
