-29 ACT
-3.6 GPA
Nobody can really answer that without knowing more information. On its face, your gpa seems low. And your ACT is just above the bottom 25% of the entering class. Ohio State considers about 10 admission criteria as part of a holistic review of each applicant. See http://undergrad.osu.edu/apply/freshmen-columbus/who-gets-in
96% of the freshman class was in the top 25% of its high school class. Many take rigorous curriculum with honors and AP courses. Ohio State considers course rigor for admissions purposes. And even if your high school does not provide a class rank, the Ohio States admissions officer, who is assigned to the territory where your high school is located, is familiar with the grading practices of your high school and can estimate what percent a 3.6 gpa from your class equates with in terms of class rank. Also, if you are an underrepresented minority, first generation or recruited athlete, your admissions chances will be increased. Other considerations are your extracurricular activities, work experience, leadership and community involvement. And finally, your intended major —the school you apply to within tOSU may effect your chances. You have a greater chance of admission to the liberal arts college than the college of computer science and engineering, for example. So there are a lot of factors that need to be considered. Nobody can give you any certainty of an answer just knowing your gpa and ACT score.
Rumor at my school is that if you get a 30 on the ACT your guaranteed admission to Ohio State University. Is that true?
@dshs823271 Not true. Looking at my DS naviance for Ohio State, I can see denials for ACT >= 30. This is with a sample size of > 200 apps per year.
Is Naviance accurate?
One person from my school who had a 35 on the ACT and a 4.22 GPA got rejected according to Naviance.
In w a 28 and 82percent predicted score but w tough courses.
