Getting into University of CAlifornia SAnta Barbara

Good Evening,
I am currently starting my senior year at a proficiency academy much like college. The classes are challenging and its a really good school. I am very smart when i put my mind to it and test well. My last 3 years in high school i have done mediocre mainly getting A's and B's except in my electives which i usually kind of failed in due to the fact i didnt try. But my question's are

A.) I have a 3.1 gpa due to the fact freshman year was a mess. does it even matter to UCSB if i take intense classes this year and get my GPA up?

B.) Let say my GPA is still not good enough what if my SAT scores are insanely high is there a better chance?

C.) if i write an incredible essay can it helo

Do i have any chance? Anything? THis is my dream school i know im smart enough just didnt work hard enough when it mattered. They keep saying they want well rounded people with culture and diversity and i have all that just have a feeling they wont see that if they look at my GPA and EC's. Any advice?

Freshman year is not counted at UCs. Come back here after you removed freshman year.

Freshmen and senior year aren’t counted for UCs. So tell us your GPA for 10th and 11th grade.

If you actually cared before you would of done something and worked harder… I had a 2.8 freshman year and realized I’m screwed so I’m bringing it up now it’s at a 3.4 and I’m going into my junior year with APs and 7 classes. Senior year kinda counts they check what classes you take just to make sure your not a slacker I’m taking 5 APs my senior year
