hey guys. I just wanted some input on whether or not to get my AA. the dilemma is that I still need a PE & health class to take in order to receive my AA. and I was going to take it this summer at my CC. that way I can graduate and walk on the commencement ceremony. but now I feel like I should just start at UCR (admitted!) early for summer session to get ahead because I plan on adding on another major.
is getting my AA worth it?? or should I just get an early start at UCR??

Are you sure you need a PE class? I thought I did, but then the advisor said I didn’t. Anyway, I got my AA degree because I figured god forbid anything happens to get in the way of my plans to get my Bachelor’s Degree (and then my law degree), at least I have an AA degree! And it is nice to have something to show for all of my hard work. Congrats on UCR! Can you even start in summer session if you’re admitted for Fall? Even if you can, it isn’t going to get you that far ahead. I say take the two classes and get the AA degree. Whatever you decide, good luck!

I didn’t. It’s going to be obsolete once we get a bachelor’s anyway.

I am getting an AA and did not have to take those classes…but this is because the AA I am getting is “transfer-option”. If they offer transfer option AA at your CC then you should definitely look into it because that’s how I am getting my AA without taking pe or health.

I got my A.A. in photography (my major is art) because I felt like it would help me get jobs while I’m in school. It’s proved to be successful and I’m glad I have it to show for all the work I’ve done thus far. However, I do feel like some of the classes I had to take were unnecessary (P.E./health/counseling) and that it slowed me down. If I were in your position I wouldn’t go for it, like mermaker said, your bachelor’s degrees will supersede the A.A. and you might as well be working towards your bachelor’s, especially if you’re double majoring.
