Getting my Wisdom Teeth pulled out tomorrow. Any Adivce? lol

Getting my Wisdom Teeth pulled out tomorrow. is there any advice u guys can give me?

I haven't had my wisdom teeth pulled out, but I did get 2 permanent teeth and a baby tooth with no permanent under it pulled for orthodontic reasons.

You're going to lose a lot of blood and you're going to go through a lot of gauze. Keep that gauze in your mouth.

When the holes finally clot, try your best to avoid coming in contact with them or else they'll bleed again. About a week or so those things will finally close and another 2 weeks you'll be good to go.

I had 4 teeth pulled at one go. Eat like crazy before you leave for the dentist.

"Eat like crazy..."

LOL.

You want Vicodin or Percocet. Don't let the dentist give you the equivalent of extra strength tylenol!

eat a lot because you wont be able to eat anything substantial for about 4 days,

also, the first day will be rough, take lots of drugs (hopefully narcotic)

You might feel drowsy from the sedative or the drugs wearing off, but have your parents play music or tv to keep you from falling asleep again. Milkshakes are always a good food for those who cannot really eat anything else. Unless you are lactose intolerant. Then you can find something else.

After laying down, do not stand right up again without your parents monitoring you. I got up to make myself a milkshake after the sedative started wearing off, and ended up passing out and hitting my head against the sink. Luckily my dad was there to pick me up. :)

words of wisdom in post 5.

moltrin 800's and tylenol #3 are nothing more than larger dosages of their otc counterpart.

i had mine out around a year ago, all four were impacted pretty badly. got full IV sedation. got stuck, the doctor asked if i was feeling anything, i said no, then i remember thinking in my head "when is it gon..," next thing i know it's over and i felt fine. i had been under for a little over a hour. no pain when i woke up, but my entire face was also numb. got perscribed 10mg/500mgAPAP vicodin. they did nothing. the next day had some of the worst pain i had ever felt, went back to the dentist very early in the morning. gave me 15mg roxicodone to take along with the vicodin. took one, 10 minutes later, NO pain, was drugged out for the next few days just listing to music not being able to do much of anything.

also, DON'T drink anything out of a straw for a while after you get them pulled.

Don't write about the "terrible" experience it was in your college essays and how you survived to get your work done. Also, don't include it on your "extra information" part of the essay.

j/k I know that's not the advice you were looking for, but someone of CC had to say it. :)

Take some painkillers an hour before you leave, then perhaps a few more as you're walking out the door. Obviously be careful, but it will really help. That's how I got through braces.

^Be careful about that.

You really don't want whatever you take beforehand to mix bad with whatever they give you.

Gah. I haven't gotten mine out yet (I only have top - the bottom don't exist for me). The dentist said to wait until I was 19-20 before taking another x-ray to check them.

Not allowed to drink from straws....will suck your clots out of the sockets.

Stock up on things that will kill the taste of blood like popsicles. pudding, things that don't require chewing.

Keep on top of the pain, especially at night, it can lead to headaches, migraines in places other than your jawline if you try to "tough it out".

Make sure you have a thermometer in the house to take your temperature once a day or so to make sure no infection is setting in..

As much as you can, sleep it off, your degree of pain will depend alot on whether your teeth just "pop out" when some leverage is applied or whether they have to be cut out.

You will do fine, just be prepared for the sight of blood because there can be a bit of it afterwards..

Eat a lot before, sleep a lot after. Stock up on movie rentals and pudding.

Put ice on your cheeks asap after the surgury. If they don't provide an icewrap for your head, have your parents get some ready. I remember mine swelled up a lot and I wasn't able to open my mouth for couple days.

good luck. :)

If the bleeding won't stop, bite down on a couple of tea bags. It tastes kind of gross, but there's some sort of chemical within the tea that helps your blood clot.

Ice cream is another "food" I liked when I got mine out; you'll probably have to use a small spoon though (I could barely open my mouth at all)

LOL guys thanks for the advice...how is it when they put u asleep? what's the like?
