Getting off the Waitlist

I think you’re all being a bit rough on schoolsgalore, who is a young teen. Quite a few posters have recently asked about remaining on wait lists although they have acceptances on hand. Many students have gone on to thrive at schools which weren’t at the top of their lists on March 9th.

There is nothing wrong to wait out for Deerfield. If you happen to get in, you will only lose the deposit for Governors. Inform Deerfield of your interest and keep them updated with your latest accomplishments.

Do your homework. Governor’s Academy is a great school. Congratulations!

"Almost all the kids in my school who applied to DA are going to PA or PEA. "

Reading this makes me think that you go to private school now. If that is the case, your best bet it to ask your counselor about your chances of getting off the waitlist at any of the other schools, as they may have a relationship with the school admission offices.

“BUMP”
Just came back from the revisit from Govs and I ended up loving it. I mean in the unlikely chance that DA takes me off the wait list I will go… But if they don’t I think I will really like Govs!

Thanks for the update, schoolsgalore! So glad you went to the revisit with an open mind - I believe that a school that offers you an acceptance “sees” something in you that convinces them you would be a great addition to their community. I’m glad that you saw it too! Congrats - and all the best to you!

Great news, Schoolsgalore…enjoy!

Congratulations schoolsgalore!!! I am so glad you loved it. It is a great school! Good Luck!

My daughter is a Govs student. She chose it at the last minute, based on her revisit experience, and none of us has ever regretted her choice. It is a place where everyone knows your name, the teachers are incredibly approachable and really care about each student. The students support each other, and on-campus events such as sports contests and concerts, plays, etcs., are very well attended by the participants’ friends and faculty members. There is a wide range of interests of the students, both academic and extra-curricular. The food in the new dining hall is great!

If you felt good about this warm environment, and go there in the fall willing to be a part of the community, you should have a great experience. I expect that everything you felt about revisit day will turn out to be an accurate reflection of daily life there.
