Getting ready for December 7 math 2

We both have same answer, 1 by formula, 1 by application and both answers match. Wil probably means that options you supplied were incorrect.

Look, in maths to every question there is a short way and a long way. In this question, if its not a regular tetrahedron, its not possible to find out the volume with info. you have given us. If its a regular tetrahedron then the way we have done is correct and the options are wrong.

If you wanna apply trigo, you can apply it, but the answer will remain the same.
In order to apply trigo, you can drop a perpendicular to the base of the tetrahedron from the apex. Then join the foot of perpendicular to any of the three vertices. The angle between the vertex and the line will be 60 and that between line and the perpendicular will be 90, use trigo to find out the length of perpendicular and then use the formula.

V(tetrahedron) = .5Ah (A - area of base)

Does anyone have the link to access the Sparknotes practice tests for Math IIC? I heard they are most accurate to the actual test, but I can’t find them anywhere on the Sparknotes website… If anyone has a link or a PDF to even one or two of the Sparknotes tests, I would really appreciate it!!

My son is taking AP CAlc this year and is planning to register for SAT MAth II subject tests soon. Could someone please suggest how much time you need to prepare and if Collegeboard and Barron’s would do the trick? If he missed Jan 25 testing date, he has to wait until May which will be his time for May 3 which will be closer to his AP final exams. Thank you !

shauryagupta, I got a 640 without finishing the entire book. Do you think it’ll be possible for me to finish the book and start doing well on Barron’s in a week? What is considered a good score on Barron’s?

@mom2carolina
If he’ s taking it on Jan 25, he has more than enough time on his hands. Just tell him to revise the concepts thoroughly and take all the practice tests available on net. After that Maybe from Jan, he can start doing Barron’s , PR, or any other book

I highly recommend Barron’s as its tougher than the actual which is just perfect.

@TeamRocketGrunt
Which book are you referring too? if it’s PR then that score is a little low but then you haven’t finished the book so i am sure you can pick that score to a 700 min by the end.

As for Barron’s if you have a Graphing Calc, it shouldn’t be that hard. If you get higher than 680 or 700, thats very good for first time. But don’t limit yourself to a 700. Aim for 800 and maintain your speed. SPEED is the main thing in Barron’s

I am referring to Barron’s.

As stated above, for Barron’s a score of > or = 680 is good.

Greater than or equal to 660 is a must. I don’t think that if someone is getting 630 or 620, he will get a score of 760+ on actual. (Though there are many examples but a score of 680 on Barron’s will make sure that you get a 760-780 or possibly 800 on Maths IIC.)

I am also going to give Maths IIC on 7th so i am as worried as any other kid about not scoring good. Just hoping for a 780+.

Basically, you only need around 44/50 or so to get an 800 on Math II. If your goal is a 780+, might as well go for an 800.

Hey,

The test is a week away, and I have not even slightly prepared. I have the Princeton Math review, but that is it. I took one practice test and got a 690. How much is the Princeton like the real thing? ***

PR is considered somewhat easier than Maths 2C (though that’s the general opinion, i have no idea about the actual result)

Hi guys few days are left for the sat 2 math2c, i am administering it on 7th of december so i need some tips on what to do on the nest few days?

I will finish up Barron’s tomorrow and take one practice. Will take two on Thursday and two on Friday.

I have 19 more pages of Barron’s. I have to finish the statistics and coordinate geometry chapters. Statistics will be easy seeing as how the only new thing in there for me is standard deviation, the formula for which I can easily program into my calculator, but do you guys have any tips for coordinate geometry? My main problem is conic sections; I’m having trouble memorizing all of them.

Does anyone have links to any practice tests that are similar in difficulty level to the actual test? I’ve finished all the Barron’s but would like some practice with something that is similar to how the actual test might be…

I got a 680 on the Barron’s test I took today. What would this translate to?

Scratch that, 690. There was a typo in one of the answers, so I got it right.

@TeamRocketGrunt how many questions (out of 50) did you get correct?

34 questions correct.

3 of the ones I missed were careless.
