I realize that most of the kids here are all A and B students, but I’m generally an A, B+, B, C+, and C student. Pretty spread out. My gpa for freshman sophomore and junior year average was 2.96. Bad, I know. My work ethic is awful and it’s an actual problem I have.

Well anyway, last weekend I was accepted into Ohio University. The first semester of senior year is not even over yet. My grades as a whole are actually better than my previous years (if you take out the class that I am going to discuss, I have around a 3.6 or 3.7). However, AP Government is literally killing me. I have a 69 and I’m pretty sure I just failed the test I took so I might have an F for the second quarter. I had a 69 the first quarter as well, so I’m not even sure if the semester grade will be a D or a high F. Either way I am freaking out. So 2 questions:’

If I fail this class, but switch out into regular government and pass, do I still graduate?

Will this affect a decision from a school like Ohio after I was already admitted?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on your school policies. You might only need a certain amount of credits to graduate so as long as you meet the credit requirement, you're fine for graduation. You might fail a class but you already pass a lot of the other classes and have gotten credit for those.

If Ohio requested you send in your mid-year grade reports, then yes it is going to be a problem. If they see the D or F, I am afraid they will kind of freak out. And yes, a D or F will most likely trigger a response from them.

I would probably try to switch out, and explain the problem to Ohio. If you have to make up a family issue and hope they don't find out.

I would look at switching out......it will only get harder 2nd semester.

Thanks guys, I have just filled out my switch out form. My counselor told me that he had never seen a student in his entire career that got rejected after being accepted. There are issues and reasons for my bad grade that I'm sure don't matter to the higher staff (teacher is an ass to me, does not help me after school because he thinks I don't try hard enough during class, EXTREMELY subjective on essays).
