Getting rid of the term "Michigan Man"

I was happy to read about the AD's efforts to get rid of the term "Michigan man". The term is not a good one, and he is right. He is not the most eloquent speaker, so I will summarize.

<a href="http://michigandaily.com/sports/jim-hackett-fires-brady-hoke-wolverines-get-rid-michigan-man">http://michigandaily.com/sports/jim-hackett-fires-brady-hoke-wolverines-get-rid-michigan-man</a></p>

His points:

There are women at Michigan.

It was taken out of context when Bo Schembechler originally said it. Bo was trying to say he wanted coaches who want to be a Michigan in response to a coach leaving for a position elsewhere.

It is about a person who is selfless, competitive, and continues the legacy of good values. It hasn't been used this way. Instead it has been used to mean somebody should have a connection to Michigan to be hired. This comes across as arrogant.

I hope not to hear this term again.
