It's Hoke

Per UM press release, David Brandon has hired Brady Hoke as Michigan's new HC.

What do you all think?

Well, he better hand that d right off to someone else cause it’s another 3-3-5 piece of crap. I’m not a huge fan because we only even considered him because he coached here a while back. Gotta support him though so I hope he does well.

bummmmmmmmer

hoke the joke

Hoke: 47-50 lifetime as head coach with an 11-1 year at Ball State. Maybe some Engineering type can confirm my numbers but by my math that makes the San Diego Savior 36-49 when you subtract his outlier year. Tressel must be peeing himself from fear. Or is it laughter?

We have become that which we abhor - Notre Dame. Well at least the hockey team is pretty good.

Damn. I was hoping for a solid turn-around for my next 4 years…

well to be fair he had a major rebuilding project at both schools and took them both to good records

Hoke strikes me as a poor decision. He was clearly the last resort. He is neither a Michigan man, nor does he have ties to the Big 10. Other than his two years ad DL coach at Michigan, he is truly not experienced.

And I don’t see how he “rebuilt anything”. BSU was 16-18 in the three years prior to Hoke taking over and 22-37 in Hoke’s first five seasons. Only on his 6th season did Hoke manage to lead BSU to a 12-2 record. Admittedly, this year’s SDSU is actually quite good. He was a mere 19 points away from a perfect season.

Needless to say, I am very disapointed. Hoke seems like a nice enough guy and I am sure he is a sound coach, but I am almost certain we will lose many of our recruits AND he will not bring any good recruits with him from SDSU.

Hoke was definitely a last resort. Hopefully his love of the school and desire to make it great again will lead us to a NC

Some of you are very pessimistic. Don’t just look at Hoke’s record and claim he won’t win.

He coached the D-Line when we won the championship…a huge reason we won that championship. He will obviously help our defense improve to be very good.

Also, do any of you guys know of the Gene Chizik story? Well yeah he had a horrible record at Iowa State before he left for Auburn. Look what he did in year 2.

Don’t judge a coach until what he does on the field. RR was bad, I agree- but I supported him all the way through.

Let’s hope for a positive future in our coach and team.

Hoke was Michigan’s DL from 1995-2002 including the NC year in 1997, so you have to say that he is a Michigan man.

But restricting our hire to only Michigan man is stupid. Was Bo a Michigan man when he came on board in 1968?

Doesn’t this completely contradict what you said in another thread:

Tate Forcier might get his wish to be a Michigan starter again. We might have to recruit a backup for him though.

Tate isn’t a shoe in to be the starter, David Gardner not only has a strong and accurate arm that could run Hoke’s offense but also has the threat of shredding a defense with his feet, he has been compared to cam newton

Denard is still gonna start. And he’s not going anywhere. A kid that talented with that much Heisman potential isn’t gonna throw away a year.

you’d be suprised

Hoke is going to hire an OC who believes in a pro-style, balanced offense. Denard, Forcier and Gardner will all compete for the starting job. I am not worried so much about the Offense. We do need a good power RB though. The first couple of years, we are probably going to have a RB by committe, which is not such a bad thing. We had such a setup back in 1997.

Stephen Hopkins looks like a strong candidate for the starting rb role. Good recruit a couple years ago with the big ten power style. I would bet on him being the feature back. As long as he goes with a 4-3 defense I think we’re at 8 or 9 wins next year.

I think DB had Hoke in his mind as the next coach since he started this mess. If you were just going to hire him anyways, why wait this long and decimate the recruiting class? DB just said that Harbaugh and Miles were never offered the job; he just went to them for advice. my question is: WHY? Everyone was stuck on “michigan man”, and those two were the best options. TBH, this michigan man stuff is really making the michigan job less attractive.
