Getting to Know You =P

Name: Diana Negoescu
Revan, I emphatize:). I'm curious how my name will sound too. There was an English girl who came to our school to teach us English in 4th grade and she just gave up after pronouncing the first three letters..Must be the "escu" ending...:)
Location:: Romania
Ethnicity: Romanian
Music: The Cardigans, Feeder, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and some Romanian bands like Vama Veche, Vita de Vie and the Moldavian(?) band Zdob si Zdub. I heard there will also be someone from Moldavia at Princeton, so I'm looking forward to asking him/her to translate "Vidili Notch":)...And I do hope that noone at Princeton has ever heard of "manele"
Movies: Bruce Almighty, Ice Age, Sound of Music, Dragonfly
TV : The Gilmore Girls, and a Romanian show called "Carcotasii":)
Free time : sleep, draw, hang out with friends, go rollerblading (not so often, though)
And I don't tend to break everything, but I did go to school without my schoolbag once when I was younger:)..Hopefully I've grown up since then

Your name doesn't seem that hard... I would say "Neg-o-es-coo". Am I close?

not axfr, but axel. that's a cool name. (no offense taken but its pegdIver, not driver. lol)

Haha. Key difference considering it's...y'know...what you do, haha. Although I suppose if you wanted to become a greasy, leather jacket-wearing truck-driving biker momma, it could work out...

Looking forward to meeting all of you... I'm sure this isn't a representative sampling but from what I've seen here, we have quite the diverse group.
:)

edit: Interesting to see some people from Romania here. For a year or so now I've been a forum moderator and beta tester for a Romanian online game in development. All of the developers have last names like Antonescu, Popescu, etc. So I've gotten decent at pronouncing them lol.

diana, a rough translation of Videli Nochi is "i've seen the night". I asked some russian guys in Siberia, while we were teaching them to dance "hora mare".

Though i doubt we will be dealing wih manele, we won't escape crappy Romanian music. There is this video on the net with Drunk Brown Students. (check out the Brown university forum). And they're listening to "Dragostea din Tei"....cah.... Somehow i hoped ivy leaguers were above such crap....

mae la tu, mae la eu, mae la o o

sorry pegDIVER! lol

Yes pretty fish, you actually are very close, but i'm not shure how u pronounce the e's:). If you pronounce them as the e in ''end'' then your Romanian pronounciation is perfect!

And thanks for the translation Revan. That song with "Dragostea din tei" is indeed everywhere, it was even in Croatia two years ago, but let's just hope it will fade away along with the trio's break-up.
