<p>I'm very into hip hop...and I cannot think of a serious movie quote that I actually like.<br>
Would putting a hip hop/rap song and a quote from an "un-intellectual" movie make me stand out in a negative way?
I've heard that Princeton is a bit more conservative than other ivies.</p>
<p>I guess it would be okay as long as it's appropriate.</p>
<p>I really think this section is to get to know who you are...so if you like hip hop...be honest!...Being unique is a good thing!...as omz said though...try to keep it PG...or at leat PG-13</p>

<p>I put a rap song and a joking line from a movie in mine. I got deffered but I truly doubt that was the reason. I think honesty is very important on that part of the app.</p>
<p>yeah, i put Shakira, her spanish stuff though, its great (i'm not latino but love spanish music!) and "la-de-da" from Annie Hall. i was deferred but i garantee it had nothing to do w/ the favorites section. put something original, make them laugh if possible, and concentrate on the othe stuff. i know how you feel though b/c i spent as much time on this section as on one of my essays, which i re-wrote several times over. :)</p>
<p>For the movie quote, I put "Just keep swimming" from Finding Nemo. Not only is that "non-intellectual," it's a freaking cartoon!!</p>

<p>haha i had the same dilemma with songs...i wanted to put down the soundtrack of RENT, but then i was worried that the person reading my app may have a) hated rent, b) seen only the trailer for the movie and thought it was racy (the scene with mimi...) c) seen the movie and thought it was racy....etc...so i just put my second fave movie and song...which werent too unique and probably made me sound like a total nerd trying to sound smart, now that i think about it...great....</p>
<p>I tried to be original but then ended up being just myself. I love shakira Im a latino haha... but when it comes to serious things I prefer pavaroti and sara brightman.</p>

I put "a beautiful mind" as my favorite movie and more than half of the story happened in Princeton. But I didn't choose it because it mentions princeton.
I guess as long as it's your favorite, there's no problem.</p>
<p>I kinda wonder whether they'll actually look up, say, a song or movie if they don't know it. I mean if they don't then it wouldn't really help them. I actually put a french movie as my fav, and a song by the verve, ^^</p>
