Gettysburg and James Madison U

What are my chances at Gettysburg and James Madison U?
I will be applying Early Decision at G-burg and Early Action at JMU.
I know these are reach schools, but I'd like to know what my actual chances are.

I am a junior at a public high school.
I take honor level courses, and get B's and A's. Senior year I will be taking AP English and AP Euro as well as Advanced Bio.
My GPA for junior year is a 3.5 However, my cumulative GPA will be somewhere around 2.6. (I had a rocky freshman year, but I got my stuff together). My SAT scores will roughly in the 1750's. Math is my weakest subject, and my math level will be up to Algebra 2.

My ECs include: Theater, Team Green (recycling club),
TAG (anti-drug group),
Heritage Club, ( I traveled to France for a homestay).
Across the River (newspaper).

I'm heavily involved in writing and I suppose you can call that my passion.
I've gone to college writing conferences and I've been published nationally and in the local newspaper.
My essay will most likely be the strongest aspect of my application.

I also dance at a private company.

Any help/insight would be wonderful. Also, any ideas for some similar safety schools in the area?

I am not sure how selective Gettysburg and JMU are, but I think applying ED will help your chances. Also, in the “is there anything you would like us to know” section explain why your freshmen year was difficult. Good Luck!

I’m sorry, I don’t know about Gettysburg, but JMU will be a huge reach. Bridgewater College is near JMU and is a little less competitive, but still decently respected.
