Gifted vs. Honors

A lot of universities recalculate GPAs by adding a .5 quality point for honors classes and 1 point for AP, IB, etc. No where does it ever say they will add quality points for gifted classes.

At my school, gifted classes are tougher than honors classes and are just a step below AP (we don't have pre-AP). We get honors credit for them, but on transcripts it shows up as gifted.

Will I still be given quality points for my gifted classes? Most of my classes are gifted, since it's higher than honors. At my school honors is basically the same thing as CP (college prep, lowest level).

Gifted will most likely be given the honors bump.

I haven’t heard of colleges creating their own weighting system, as it’s usually done by the high schools themselves.

I assume this system will be mentioned in the school profile, so colleges can figure it out.

@ribbonroad224‌ some colleges will recalculate your gpa with their own formula, which is a type of weighting usually.
