Gilchrist

My friend and I are trying to room together at fsu. My priority number is low 100s while his is mid 200s. Also, I'll be honors while he won't. What would be our chances of landing in gilchrist with his number and not being honors? Also, if we don't make it, would we probably make our second choice Reynolds? Thank you for any help!

all I can tell you is that my son was not honors but put Gilchrist as his first choice with no roommate preference. His priority number was 35 and he was assigned Broward, his second choice. I would think Reynolds would be possible since a lot of people don’t want to sign the wellness pledge.

Chances are decent. There are more girls than guys at FSU, so with 5 floors the guys have two floors and the girls 3. While they go by the highest of the two numbers, I think that your being in Honors is a little edge, as they try to get honors students with lower numbers who apply early into Landis or Gilchrist. I think you will definitely be in Gilchirst or Reynolds with those numbers. People get scared off by the no alcohol pledge in Reynolds, so with that number Reynolds is a lock. It is a great dorm, larger rooms, good location.

I didn’t know that floors were separated by sex at FSU. Does that make it harder for guys to get on campus housing since girls are designated more floors?

In Landis (for this year at least) there are both girls and guys on my floor, and I think that’s true on most, if not all floors. I don’t think it’s necessarily an even amount of rooms though, since a few girls’ rooms have a male RA.

Girls are only designated more floors in Gilchrist. It is one of many dorms. There are more girls than guys at FSU, as is true for most colleges and U’s these days. But that makes no real difference with room assignments, as they even out with the number of dorms available. Guys will be fine getting a room on campus if they have a decent number for priority.
