Girl to Guy ratio, class of 2014

Everyone is forgetting the 4 black/white multiracial students listed! They could count for 2 or more whole black kids… ; ) !!

Seriously, I wonder how they are counted in the official stats. I know my D is listed there, but would probably be happy to be counted as black for the school stats. It is very complicated…

not really. actually including the 4 bi(?)-racial black students the yield of black students this year is already way higher than previous years. that’s more than half the number of black students at Mudd right now. hopefully they’ll stick around. props to HMC admissions.

do u think that the number of asians that will attend are more than usual?

Wow. I had no idea.

55 asians are more than 1/4 of the incoming class
on top of that 11 asian/white

if those two are added together, that’s more than 1/3 of the incoming class.

That seems abnormally high to me. i’m not complaining. I’m asian myself. Just surprised.

For comparison, last year’s class stats:

Total: 212

Women: 77 (36%)

Men: 135 (64%)

African-American/Black: 1 (.5%)

Asian-American/Asian: 37 (17.5%)

Hispanic/Latino: 12 (5.7%)

Native American: 1 (.5%)

Multi-ethnic:** 18 (8.5%)

Other: 5 (2.4%)

Unknown: 8 (3.8%)

White: 130 (61.3%)

That sounds about right, since I remember 30-40 sponsees in API-SPAM this year. So yes, far more Asians. I’m happy! =) Seriously though, ++admissions this year, (and us, for convincing these students to come! haha) I hadn’t even looked at the API numbers really, my mind kind of stopped at the male-female ratio and was like WOAH.

Man, I wish I wasn’t going abroad next semester, so I could meet all of you.

I’m class of 2012, so I don’t have the e-mail for my class. But class of 2013 was the first year they started having multi-ethnic as an option.

Sorry blackroses, I guess I wasn’t clear! I want to know the total number of females that applied and the total number of males that applied to see what the different acceptance rates are for each gender. I only see the total number that applied on the first post…

fairlights: sorry, my bad. I did post the common data set later on though, which Is what I meant to refer you to. This has the amount of applicants of each gender from last year:

As for this year, the common data set hasn’t been posted yet.

I guess I’ll just have to wait until they release the Common Sata set for this year! Do you happen to know the date it will come out?
