When they asked me it was more along the lined of “this is what we haven’t recieved from you yet, you know the deadline was November 15th right? Seriously turn it in fast” kinda deal. I’m a little surprised they didn’t ask anyone else. My GPA isn’t perfect but my low grades are all concentrated in one area with an explanation, so I’m surprised they’d want to see my quarter grades.

Shoot I’m totally freaking out though. Looking back on the email I wrote last week, it’s a frickin essay. I’m so embarrassed that I wrote so much. Her reply was pretty curt, like “I’ll get back to you Friday if anything is still missing.”

Also, what does your tracking thing say for “high school counselor recommendation”? Mine is not marked as received by Barnard and the common app says that he did complete the ED agreement and school report but not the midyear report or final report. What did your all’s look like?

they STILL haven’t gotten my teacher recommendations. should i be worried? they just got my acts scores yesterday (i sent them on the 26th) so if anyone else was worrying about that, they should be there soon!

Raspberi-
The tracking site says that it doesn’t have my counselor recommendation and my HS transcript. It got my teacher recs though. It also doesn’t have “Early Decision Signature (if applicable):” (Is this from the common app? I’m sure I did it. Worried. ) It also doesn’t have my SAT scores yet.

They’re probably just really busy. I called admissions last week (because I didn’t have an interview, and I wanted to request one… but since ED’s passed, oh well ): ) and it took a while to reach somebody and the lady was polite but brief.

iwantbarnard- Barnard got my teacher recs pretty fast, and one of my teachers even mailed it in after the deadline. Maybe you should ask your teachers?

Just had an email exchange with one of the admissions officers. They’re so awesome, and so helpful. There’s nowhere I’d rather be next year. Crossing my fingers and my toes and my bellybutton.

She said there has been a delay with my test scores in general so I think that applies to a bunch of people here.

And if your Early Decision thing is not in, make triple sure to check that your counselor did the counselor component of the ED agreement (you can see it under school forms on the common app) - mine didn’t see it until I pointed it out!

They also haven’t gotten one of my letters (the letter was emailed but the common app teacher forms were snail-mailed) but that’s totally outta my control so I am trying to make myself not stress about it.

And as far as test scores go, I figure that the official reports only confirm what we self-reported so they’ll make the decision independent of getting the report but they’ll wait for confirmation from the report before issuing any sort of official decision to us.

But as a little reminder (and one I need too!) stressing does nothing. I know it’s kinda required of the sort of person who surfs college confidential after their app is in, but seriously. It’s out of our control. It doesn’t help to worry.

Thanks Raspberi, it looks like my counselor missed the counselor component after all.

I’m just hanging around here, reading the forum because I’m just so excited and impatient. : D It’s kinda funny we’re all going “OMG WHERE ARE MY FORMS.” Actually kinda surprised there aren’t more people around, because threads from previous years seem really talkative. Maybe when we get closer to the 15th…

Okay, another forms question, for anybody and everybody:

on your tracker, does it say that the counselor letter was received? And if so, which forms were marked as completed by your counselor on the common app? Mine isn’t marked as in but I don’t see anything missing on the common app so I’m confused.

@shay33. I agree with everything you just said. I’m checking this forum like it’s facebook!! I also read last year’s ED forum like it’s a novel. Where are all the people?? lol. I’m counting down the minutes until December 14th. I’m afraid to post too much, though! I would love a lot of people to post here so I know I’m not the only one dealing with the biggest anticipation of my life!!

Okay, another obligatory tracking question: Under required docs, they’ve received common app, common app supp, ED sig, but not the essay. What’s the difference between common app and common app essay??

@Raspberi: It’s interesting; I looked at my common app. I looked under many of the “green fields”. Some sections are sectioned off by a gray box (like ED sig and TOEFL). My counselor rec is also sectioned off. What that tells me is that it may not be “required” since ED sig and TOEFL isn’t always required. I’m just speculating, though.

Hi guys! I am a little late in responding to this, but I have also applied early decision! (As indicated by the title of this thread…) I came upon this thread today and all of you sound like wonderful women. Of course we are all nervous, but we cannot lose sight of ourselves. We cannot disregard the relentless effort we poured into our applications. But more importantly, we cannot discount how powerful each and every one of us are. We are wonderful people, regardless of the results (although I’m sure getting the acceptance letter would be convulsing/foaming-at-the-mouth-on-the-floor exciting). You are all brilliant, and even though I don’t know you, I am proud to share the same application experience with women like yourselves.

Hey Everyone, I also applied early! Is everyone else on here nervous to the point of madness? I keep fantasizing about how I would react if I received an acceptance letter, but I am trying to be skeptical as well to avoid too much disappointment (which would inevitably be devastating nevertheless)

I’m sorry I’ve been posting soo much. It’s just that this has been occupying 90% of my brain activity and you guys understand better than any of my friends, none who applied ED to anywhere.

smartundecided, where do you see the counselor letter thing? When I go under school forms in the common app, I see ED Agreement - counselor component, School Report, MidYear Report, and Final Report. Which of those includes the elusive letter?

Also, I really wish that decisions were online rather than regular mail. At least then there is a specific time you can check.

I’ve skimmed through most of this thread…I’m just glad that I live in Seoul and will be receiving my letter (rejection or acceptance…) via email Is there anyone else who does not live in the States and applied ED?!

Hi everyone!
I’ve been lurking this thread quite a while and I’m surprised that there aren’t as much responses as the Barnard ED thread last year. I’ve applied early as well and I actually got my tracking info a week after I sent in my application. I also sent in my financial aid stuff BEFORE I sent in my application, but none of that info is showing up on my tracker. Everything else shows up (test scores, transcript, recs, application, essay, etc…), all except the forms I mailed in for financial aid. Does anybody here know if the financial aid forms we sent in are supposed to show up on the tracker?

Btw, good luck to everyone applying early decision to Barnard! Results are just around the corner. I can’t tell if I’m feeling excited or worried…

@Raspberi… In the tracker, counselor rec is under “recs and transcripts”. I can’t find it in the common app other than in “school forms”. My counselor is with my 2 teachers recs under “recommenders”.

@DigbyUnicornhunt: Thank you so much! I really do (actually) think the same of everyone here. It’s not easy to sound eloquent and driven on the computer unless you ARE eloquent and driven. I hear these Barnard stereotypes about cold women or wacky lesbians or super duper women-are-better-than-men-lets-start-a-war-with-them! nazi feminists. But then I come back and interact with the people who are actually experiencing Barnard and see that these stereotypes do not hold their own AT ALL. It’s funny; what first separated Barnard’s tour from the rest of the tours I visited all over the summer was the fellow people I was taking a tour with. There was one sassy fashionista (love the black leather boots in the middle of the summer!) with a Brooklyn accent that wanted to be an actress, then there was a confident overseas student, and another was a red head who seemed like the cutest, sweetest girl in the world. All were very quiet but all were very attentive. I remember visiting Barnard again and again. One time, I saw a family that was rounding the bend around the Greek Games statue with eyes wide and searching. Then emerged a girl with her pocketbook stuffed under her arm, knowing exactly what to do, exactly where to go, and doing everything to get there. I turned around to my parents and said “That’s a Barnard woman!”

@AK81493: My parents are doing the exact same thing and I’m forcing myself away from it. I have to stop myself from saying “When I’m at Barnard, I’ll” and correct it with a choppy, staggering phrase like, “Well–that is–if I do get in–and if I don’t it’s fine…” lol. Wow… only 11 days!

Hi, since you all know a ton about Barnard :), I was wondering if I may ask you a question. Does Barnard offer the same scholarship that Columbia does? Like if you’re accepted but your family income is under a certain amount, do you get a free ride?

Jose4Jesus- i’m pretty sure you don’t-- even though Barnard shares things with Columbia, they have their own financial aid offices. Columbia has the money to give more but I hear Barnard’s not as generous. Apparently Barnard’s endowment is $171 million and Columbia’s is $5.9 billion.

Also, hi everyone! It’s so nice to have more conversation :D

DigbyUnicornhunt- thanks for the reminder. I’m sure wherever we all end up, we’ll be fine.
AK81493 + smartundecided- Haha, i’m doing the exact same thing! I have to stop fantasizing so I can get to work on my other college apps… ):
Jisunz- Hi! Cool, Seoul. Have you visited Barnard/NYC before? And nope, I’m not international.
pinkporcelain- I think the financial aid stuff is separate, but I could be wrong. I applied for financial aid too, and I don’t see anything on the tracker. :)

@shay33: Thanks a lot for replying! For the last few days, I’ve been freaking out about the financial aid stuff and your response has made me less paranoid. I guess I can set all my worries on whether I get accepted/rejected to Barnard now.

Barnard offers excellent need based aid, not really looked at as a scholarship. However, the Ivies are known to be outstanding in distributing aid.
