If any of you guys took the November SAT: have your scores still not been filed…? I emailed Barnard a couple of weeks ago and they said it was “fine,” that things were still processing etc…Anyone else?

I was stupid and forgot that FinAid forms even existed until after my application was sent it. Then FinAid emailed me and mailed me a letter saying that they’ll accept the forms from me by December 3rd (this was Nov 23ish). Because they extended my deadline by a lot, I’m hoping it’s good news for me because otherwise if it’s a rejection I don’t think they would care too much. Or maybe this is just normal procedure and I’m getting my hopes up -.-

Not to dash your hopes but I got the same e-mail/letter on Nov. 23rd because of a missing - tax return. I think it was just a mass mailing that Barnard sent out when they cross referenced ED apps with financial aid requests … sigh…

CC SEAS kids all got their notifications today.
I’m both anticipating and dreading next week. Anticipating because, obviously, I want to know. Dreading because if I stay in my current state, I can always have a sliver of hope that I was accepted. If I find out that I was deferred or rejected then I will actually have to face reality.

And as everyone knows: HugeDomains.com;

jisunz- i’m sure it’s fine-- I sent my november scores too, and they only filed it one or two days ago.

Jaden- I’m feeling exactly the same way. I really want to get this over with, but at the same time I really don’t want to face whatever truth it will be. XD
Because you mentioned the CC ED kids-
I have two close friends who both applied to CC ED. One got accepted, the other didn’t. The one who got accepted, J, never does homework, does math homework in biology class, isn’t motivated at all for school, starts all school work midnight the day it’s due, isn’t involved in school, doesn’t have any leadership positions.
However, while he doesn’t even take honors history/english courses, he’s a genius in science and math basically. He studies maybe for 30 minutes and can get 100’s on tests. But, because he doesn’t really try, his grades and scores are great, but not AMAZING.
My other friend who didn’t get accepted, K, is involved in almost everything, is drum major, runs the yearbook, is on the student council, does debate… and more that I can’t even list… and on top of it all she’s smart and motivated.
K definitely has the higher GPA.
But J’s father does research at Columbia and during the summer his father’s friends got him a job helping in some lab on Columbia. And so those professors who met him wrote him recs.
I don’t know. Sometimes life isn’t really fair. That’s why… I think we should all just breathe and know that we might not get what we want, but it’s okay because we’ll find someplace.
I’m not sure if this is exactly comforting! Haha.

Oh, and please don’t get me wrong, I’m genuinely happy for this friend. It’s just that those were the facts. XD

Haha Jaden, that’s so true. :)

wow, I’m really happy I found this. Great to know that everyone is having as much as a heart attack as I am. Well, not “happy” really because I wouldn’t wish this impatience on anyone, but just relieved that there are others as nervous as I am. I think I’m going to check the mail every other minute next week, and then possibly faint when I receive the letter. Just want to wish everyone the best of luck and let you all know that everything that is crossable on my body, is crossed! Hope to see everyone next year!!

Hi ladies, I know I am a tad late joining this conversation but I also applied ED to Barnard. I am so nervous/excited for the letter to arrive. Just a few more days!! I can hardly contain myself! Has anyone been an exception and received their letters yet?

@shay33… I’m just going to go ahead an GUESS (don’t quote me on this) that close to 30% of people who get accepted to an Ivy League are underqualified (or ALMOST qualified) who get in through connections (sports, parents know people, legacies, etc). It’s sad, but I think, since Barnard is so incredibly small, it’s less the case. Cross fingers!!!

sorry to bring this up again, but does BC have everyone’s forms by now? I’m only asking because I don’t want to seem all nervous and crazy by barging into my GC’s office again… but I’m a little worried because it seems so close to the decision date, and yet they still haven’t filed my HS transcript and GC rec. what about all of you guys?

Hi and welcome, mustbeaccepted and boricua. ditto on the anxiousness-- CC has become my facebook. :P

smartundecided- didn’t see the post. I always double post. sorry. haha.
Yeah, that’s probably true. I don’t know why I wrote that whole thing. I was so excited for the both of them today. XD

Three of my friends got into Cornell today and I think their happy post college acceptance delirium is starting to rub off on me. Waiting until next week is getting to be unbearable.

Okay guys I don’t know how I’m going to make it 'till the 15th…

This week is going by so dreadfully slow! D:
I was recently checking out the stats posted by users in the Columbia and Cornell ED threads and i’m feeling extremely worried. Some people with amazing stats were rejected while others were accepted and it’s so scary to think about the standards colleges have in accepting students. Nothing is definite and it’s just so nerve wracking. sigh
I just want to get back my results asap and get this over with. This waiting period is so torturous… I can feel myself balding already…

does anyone know if we GET letters on the 15th? or is that when they send them OUT?

P.S. I am also glad to know that I am not alone out there in my freaking-out :)

Oh, you definitely are not alone. Also, I believe we will receive the letters by the 15th. Like others on this forum have said, there is a good chance it will arrive on the 14th. Barnard also says that a response will arrive BY the 15th. So just a few more days!!

Guys… we have five more days of waiting MAX. This is crazy.
I believe they email the internationals the same day they send out the US letters so that’ll give us a hint of when to expect them if we have any internationals posting.

Jaden239: I’m international so I’ll be getting an email…like I said this (along with my Facebook if I get accepted…) will be one of the first places I update with the news! :)

shay33: Barnard STILL hasn’t filed my November scores…

hi all,
i’m late joining this discussion too, but i am DYING to hear from barnard just like everyone else! i’m slightly confused about exactly how we get the information though. is it a letter or an e-mail?

E-mail only for international applicants. Letters (express mail for acceptances) for US residences.

Hi Everyone!
I just saw this group, and I am totally with everyone on the nervousness. With more and more acceptances for other schools coming out the past few days (and of course with my friends subsequently posting facebook statuses about it) I just kept getting more and more anxious.
sayjay–Barnard sends out acceptances via express mail. Other information (rejections/deferrals) is apparently sent out via regular mail. Barnard does not do emails. There is a way to try and “cheat” by using your ID that you’ve been using to track your application materials to try and log in to the accepted students site. But I wouldn’t recommend it, because there could be a computer error that doesn’t let you into the site even if you did get in (and then you’re getting your hopes crushed for nothing!).
