Hi ! I'm currently a junior in high school and I'm wondering if it is possible to major in ChemE (plus on premed track for medical school) and minor in let's say theatre or dance? Has anyone done this before or -

Their are not rules against majoring or minoring in things. It’s just, should you? Would it be better to just join the dance/theater club instead of taking them for a grade?

A friend of mine majored in Materials Eng and minored in theater, but it was a lot of extra work - 6 and 7 courses per semester. He was also ROTC. You will need to be exceptionally fast at your engineering work.

BTW, he never worked as an engineer. After his military commitment, he went to work directing and choreographing Off-Broadway shows in NYC.

I have friends who are engineers and active in theater. We have a humanities requirement, which allows students to fulfill graduation requirements, and empty face for electives. You could easily fit in some extra courses.

You’ll have a lot more flexibility if you just concentrate on ChemE (and pre-med requirements). Then fill in with theater classes and activities as your schedule permits.
