girls- hair straighteners

Okay so i have kinda wavy hair that is past my shoulders and i need a new straightener. What is the best type to buy? I dont want to spend too much money on it. Does anyone have the one that works on dry hair? beucase i hate having to blowdry my hair, and then straighten it. Do they work well? and are they decent for your hair? Help please!

I laughed when I saw this topic because we went all over town last night looking for a "Chi" hair straightener because oldest D went out of town and and took the family hair straightener. Talk about a crisis....They had many at Sally Beauty Supply, and woman there said Ion was the best.

well i'm black so it's different, and almost necesary for me, but I would try Sally's. They have a lot of good products :p

so just go in there and ask what is good? i really wanted to get one from Target because i have a ton of gift cards there, but whatever...thanks for the input. anyone else....?

i just think the people in sally's are more informed, but as long as you don't use something that causes your hair to fall out, target's fine, though i doubt anyone will be able to help you much :p

chi is the best hands down
but its like a hundred and some dollars last time i checked
but its good cuz it's ceramic so it doesn't damage your hair, like hot tools
i used to be really into the hair area, i even wanted to become a hairdresser at one point .. so take my word, i've done a lot of research
oh and celebrian, straigtening your hair too much is damaging, you have to learn to work with your curls, i have curls and they look good and i never straighten . . its all in the gentle touch and what you use, you just have to be a little more patient

I have a vidal sassoon ceramic one. I love my flat iron.

i saw this "MAXIGLIDE" flat iron advertised on TV that doesn't get hot (except the plate of course) so that you don't burn yourself and can get real close to your scalp, it has little bristles on the plates so that your hair is actually staright and detangles as you iron it, and it shoots out water vapor like an actual iron. it has other features too.

i don't know if it works but i saw it used on white and black girls's hair on the commercial. but you can't believe everything on tv.

here's a link to it. <a href="http://www.shopathometv.com/shopathome/network/jshop/shopdev/product/detail.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0896030303.1125116063@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckaddfhlklhljcefeceeedffjdfjf.0&OID=62401&catOID=-22850&n=0%5B/url%5D">http://www.shopathometv.com/shopathome/network/jshop/shopdev/product/detail.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0896030303.1125116063@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccckaddfhlklhljcefeceeedffjdfjf.0&OID=62401&catOID=-22850&n=0</a></p>

vidal sassoon is awesome...i have the non-ceramic one and i love it...

but i've heard the ceremic one is also really good...but more expensive...i guess

I dont get what the hype is with all the expensive hair straighteners. My hair is very long (mid-back) and curly/wavy. I let my hair air dry and then flat iron it with my cheap Revlon iron and it works great. People say that using a cheap iron dries your hair out, but I spray a leave in conditioner through my hair when its wet so my hair stays hydrated. Then again, I'm not a hair expert.

I haver really curly hair and I just started using Conair's ceramic hair straightener and it works really well.
