how prestigious is the American legion auxiliary girls nation program?

extremely. Only 98 out of thousands of girls who attend girls state programs are selected. I would compare it to being ranked in the top 100 in the nation for a sport. It will really make a difference when applying to colleges.

I agree with XCisforME. My debate coach introduced the team to the program this year. It's extrememly prestigous and looks exptremely good on applications.

Well, I would say it's a strong award to put on your application, but it isn't a "hook" like other national awards are. Why? Because getting to Boys'/Girls' Nation isn't dependent on academics, on leadership, on anything than campaigning. I say "campaigning" because typically only those in high-level positions are considered for it.

(When I was at Boys' State, the person who won the governor position, and who went to Boys' Nation, got it because he made a Monica Lewinksi joke. Not exactly something that speaks to his academic qualities like USAMO, TASP, RSI, etc. would--or even like any in-school activity in which you could have a leadership position would.)
