greatly said collegehopeful78! If you are obese, you shouldn't have model standards. If you are very unintelligent, you shouldn't have genius standards. and if you are 5'3'', you shouldn't have 6'+ standards!

Well people that shoot out of their league will have a lower success rate. So IMO just let people have whatever standards they want. If a stupid, ugly guy can get intelligent, hot women, why say that he shouldn't be able to? There's no code when it comes to standards.

It is shallow when guys who are 5'10 to 6'0" get turned down by 5'0" girls who want someone who is 6'4" or higher. And I have seen this many times.
Right, and it couldn't POSSIBLY be that the 6'4" is otherwise better looking, or more interesting than the shorter one. Nope. The only dating standard women has is height.

Both men and women will continue to turn down less attractive partners for more attractive ones. That's life, you won't change it, moving to Europe won't change it and you'll just be a short, bitter man if you don't choose to move pass it.

KindlyCuddly is not being arrogant. She's being realistic.
And trust me, Europeans (especially in France, Italy, etc.) are more conscious about appearance than Americans. They glam up every single day. Moving to Europe wouldn't solve anything.

Thirded! The American Media does do this to girls, it teaches them to be very superficial.
As opposed to guys who only look at inner beauty? Really? By the way, it's not just Americans being "brainwashed by the media." Look at the Koreans and Japanese who get tons of plastic surgery. It's a sickening phenomenon. If any of you have ever been to/lived in Europe, the culture is generally more appearance-conscious. They watch what they eat, dress up every single day, and always wear makeup. The men are far more fashion conscious and more metrosexual. I guess you would think that they're shallow too...whatever.

hahaha don't get me started on England. My dad's from England and English men mock English girls, but whatever. England and America are very similar, except I'd say English girls wear less makeup. The English in general are pastier and let's just say that whole dental hygiene stereotype isn't an unfounded one. The English are taller than Americans though with similar weight problems in the population. But once you hit the European continent, it's like walking into a fashion magazine.

I am 5'10" with impeccable posture. Despite being an inch taller than the average American I am called short. How pig headed. Its shallow for short women to EXPECT (not want) tall men in the same way big out of shape guys shouldn't expect slim girls.

Who calls you short? I'm 5'10'' and I've never been referred to as short.

It's not as if tall guys aren't attracted to short girls. It's a reasonable expectation. And if it's shallow then who says shallowness is necessarily a bad thing?

Oh my god, this is such a silly thing to argue about so I'm going to stop. I just hope you all can grow to <3 yourselves and others.

Oh lords above I actually completely agree with BerkeleySenior here. Korea in particular has a celebrity culture where the majority of stars undergo plastic surgery. It's terrible. And in Europe a lot of the people are very chic, especially counties such as France.

Kindly - Nobody here is bitter. I'm slightly below average height, but I've never been disadvantaged by it with girls or otherwise. And except for this time when I was standing to two guys above 6'6", I've never really felt short either. Just because people point out cultural norms that they find irritating doesn't make them bitter.

6ft 1 here. WOO!!!
but girls are mean and stuckup sometimes, generally the prettier ones.

and who is to say that plastic surgery is terrible? if you dont like something about yourself and can change it, why not?

and stop attacking kindly. i agree with her. people have certain standards and you should respect that. it is impossible to judge which gender is more shallow unless you survey everyone in the world. you will meet some people who are more shallow than the other. you shouldnt judge a certain group because of the few people, in this case the entire female gender.

Well when an entire culture depends on it and PROMOTES it (like Korea for example), it's definitely wrong. Plus there are numerous other social aspects to this: they want to look Caucasian, they hate themselves, the entire culture breeds self-deprecation. There's numerous factors that play into this. Looks aren't the most important thing in life.

thats probably the most dumbest thing ive heard. how do you know that the ENTIRE culture of korea depends and promotes it? thats really a ignorant thing to say. you obviously have the wrong impression of the media life of korea.
